Weld-On Disc Brake Kit Installation Instructions:

Thank you for purchasing one of our brake kits. This kit, when properly installed is one of the best, inexpensive kits around.
 

1. Check the outside diameter of hub flange. It needs to be 5.710 or less. The brake register "A" should be 2.810 or less. Make sure the rotor slides over the axle flange completely.
 

2. Install the center section to be used in the housing. Install the axles and tighten the axle retaining bolts. Make sure the center section and axles are correctly installed in the housing. This is very important!
 

3. Reinstall the rotors and tighten them to the axle flange. Assemble the calipers and pads onto the rotor with the caliper bracket installed on the caliper. The caliper bracket may need to be trimmed. Make sure the caliper pads are completely on the rotor. Once the caliper bracket is installed apply air pressure to the caliper where the brake fluid normally goes in. This will squeeze the rotor and line up the pads and caliper. Tack-weld the caliper brackets and gussets in place. Once the brackets and gussets are tack welded, disassemble the axles, calipers, and rotors. WARNING.. .these brackets must be welded by an experienced welder. The axle tube must be very clean and free of rust and dust. Once welded, let cool completely and reassemble.
 

4. These calipers are free-floating and must use flexible lines to them from the frame or center of the rearend housing. We offer a flexible braided steel line kit or use and Earl's 997604 and 997504 banjo and bolt to connect to a #4 braided flexible line. A 2 Ib residual valve may be needed to restore pedal pressure. If the rear brakes lock up before the front brakes a proportioning valve bay be required.
